Standard I-beams feature a slope on the inner flange surfaces and are designated by a number corresponding to their height in centimeters. The range includes profiles from No. 10 to No. 60. The ratio of wall thickness to beam height reaches 1/55. The thinner the wall, the more efficient the beam's cross-section performs under bending loads. The following types of steel I-beams are available:

Steel I-Beams with Sloped Inner Flanges (GOST 8239-89)
This standard establishes the range of hot-rolled steel I-beams where the slope of the inner flanges must be between 6% and 12%. Based on rolling precision, beams are classified as high precision (B) or ordinary precision (V). Special Steel I-Beams (GOST 19425-74)
This standard applies to hot-rolled beams for overhead tracks (M), reinforcement of mine shafts (S), and channels for the automotive industry:
- For Series M beams, the slope of the inner flange surfaces is 12%.
- For Series S beams, the slope of the inner flange surfaces is 16%.
By rolling precision, profiles are divided into high precision (A) and ordinary precision (V). They are produced in lengths from 4m to 13m. According to GOST 19425-74, they are categorized as fixed length, multiple of fixed length, or random length. Residuals are considered profiles with a length of at least 3m.

Hot-Rolled I-Beams with Parallel Flange Edges (GOST 26020-83)
This standard covers hot-rolled steel beams with heights from 100mm to 1000mm and flange widths from 55mm to 400mm. Depending on the size ratio and application conditions, I-beams are divided into types: B (Normal), Sh (Wide-flange), and K (Column). They are produced in lengths from 6m to 24m. Short lengths (residuals) are defined as beams not less than 3m for linear density up to 20 kg/m, or 4m for density over 20 kg/m.
Reducing the load-bearing weight of the entire structure beneficially affects the project's cost, which is achievable using steel I-beams. Visually, this element resembles a bar, positioned horizontally or at an angle, with lengths up to 12m (for standard sections) and heights up to 100cm. From an application perspective, the steel I-beam is universal: for reinforcing mine tracks, assembling span structures, constructing floor ceilings, and building houses using panel technology.
