Steel hexagon bar is a type of long metal product with a hexagonal cross-section. There are two primary types available:
- Hot-rolled hexagon bar (EN 10061 / GOST 2879-88)
- Cold-drawn or calibrated hexagon bar (EN 10278 / GOST 8560-78)
These bars are most commonly available in standard steel or galvanized finishes. They serve as the primary raw material for manufacturing bolts, nuts, various mechanical components, and fasteners. Hexagonal sections are also frequently selected for decorative structures and specialized engineering tasks.
Hot-Rolled Hexagon Bar according to EN 10061 (GOST 2879-88)
The dimensions and tolerances for hot-rolled hexagons are regulated by the EN 10061 (GOST 2879-88) standard. This specification applies to hot-rolled bars made of carbon, alloyed, and high-alloyed steel with an inscribed circle diameter ranging from 8 mm to 100 mm.

Weight tolerances for hexagon bars represent the difference between the actual weight (considering maximum negative deviations) and the nominal weight. These bars are typically produced in lengths of 2 to 6 meters, though the EN 10061 (GOST 2879-88) standard allows for custom lengths up to 12 meters. Depending on the order, they are classified as:
- Fixed length
- Multiple of fixed length
- Random length (NDL)
In a batch of random length bars, up to 10% of bars between 1.5 and 2 meters are permitted. Production utilizes steel grades such as S235JR (St3), S355J2 (St20/St35), C45E (St45), and 41Cr4 (40X). In mechanical engineering and construction, steel hexagons are indispensable. They are manufactured using alloying elements like manganese, nickel, or chromium to enhance durability. Key advantages include a long service life, resistance to moisture and organic substances, high mechanical stability, and excellent weldability. Stainless and galvanized versions offer additional protection for chemical and food production environments. Standard packaging includes bundles or coils.
UTMK provides expert assistance in selecting the right steel alloy and processing method. We are ready to organize delivery to any location in Europe, including major industrial hubs in Poland and Bulgaria. Additionally, we offer hollow sections, seamless pipes, and steel channels. Volume discounts are available for wholesale and regular clients.
