Corporation "Industrial Union of Donbass" announced the resumption of steel smelting (converter shop) at the Dnipropetrovsk Iron and Steel Works.
For reference. DMK – this is one of the largest enterprises of the metallurgical industry in Ukraine with a full production cycle, ore – finished metal products. The controlling stake in the corporation belongs to Russian businessmen, and 49 percent is divided between Mkrtchan and Taratuta. Cast iron, steel of different grades, cold and hot rolled metal (I-beam, rebar, steel circles) – this is the main range produced by DMK. The plant is also a major supplier of a wide range of crystal products to the Ukrainian market.
Earlier, in March, a part of the capacities of the metallurgical plant was stopped due to the lack of raw materials and working capital. During the downtime, a change in leadership was made – Podkorytov A., who used to be the head of a metallurgical plant in the city of Enakievo, becomes the general director.
The management of DMK, headed by Alexander Podkorytov, at the operational meeting on 07/27/2017, announced plans for the work of the enterprise and specific workshops:
- DM No. 1M (blast furnace shop) – from July 27, 2017, work resumes in full. The blast furnace is operating normally – cast iron is produced with slag separation. Next, the supply of pig iron to the converter shop for the first scheduled melt in the CCM (continuous casting machine).
- The delivery of sinter ore and concentrate for blast-furnace shops is expected in the coming days.
- Rolling shop – switching to the heating furnace mode on the mill 400/200 (heating).

- The scheduled blow-up of blast furnace number 9 continues.
- Blast furnace number 12 is heating up as planned.
- Preparation for the launch of converter No. 2 and simulation of CCM No. 3 operation
Further plans announced by – this is a full, 100%, loading of all available capacities of the enterprise.
