The branch of the manufacturing industry that specializes in the manufacture of various machines, equipment, and production facilities is called engineering. This is a very broad direction, covering the production of vehicles, special equipment, industrial equipment, machine tools, high-tech equipment, etc. There are such types of mechanical engineering: transport, agricultural, automotive, machine tool building, shipbuilding, instrument making, etc. In Ukraine, this industry is very well developed , therefore, almost all metallurgical enterprises are focused on the production of rolled products for this industry.

Application of a steel wheel in mechanical engineering

For machine-building enterprises, a round profile is the main blank from which parts, mechanisms, and fasteners are subsequently produced. The use of rolled metal directly depends on the grade of steel. According to this criterion, the following types of circle are distinguished:

• Regular quality (St3). Suitable for the production of non-critical parts (some springs, fasteners, guards) that are not affected by a serious load.< /li>
• Quality structural circles from St20, 35, 45. Shafts, pushers, gears, etc. are made from them.
• Structural low alloy, made of steels 09G2S, 17G1S, 10G2S1, 10KhNDP. Such rolling lends itself very well to welding, so it is most often used in welded mechanisms and structures.
• Structural alloyed profiles. Wheels made of St20X, 25KhGT, 30KhGT, 40KhN, 38KhS, 42KhM, 35KhM, 30KhMA, 38KhMA are used for the manufacture of gears with increased requirements for hardness and wear resistance, bushings, disks. Steel 40X is used in the production of shafts, axles, fasteners designed for shock loads. • Spring wheels from St65, 65G, 60S2A, 70, 85, 60S2HFA, 65S2VA are used for the production of springs, springs of large vehicles. Springs for cars are made from 50KhGA steel.
• Tools made of carbon steel. For cutting tools, grades U8, U10, U11, U12, U13, etc. are mainly used.
• Tool stamping wheels are made from steel grades 7KhG2VM, Kh12F1, Kh12M, 3Kh3VMF, 4Kh3VMF, 4Kh5MFS, DI22, DI23, etc.
• Structural heat-resistant profile is used for the manufacture of parts for gas turbines, boilers, jet engines, etc. Withstands temperatures up to 800°C. The main steel grades – pearlite 12K, 15K, 18K, 22K, 12X1MF, 15XM.
• Bearing – for the manufacture of ball bearings, steel circles ШХ15 (for products of small diameter) and ШХ15СГ (for overall bearings) are used. Increased requirements are put forward for these steels in terms of the content of non-metallic inclusions that cause material fatigue.
• Tool alloy wheels are used in the manufacture of measuring instruments, precision tools, etc. Base steel – HVG, 9XS, 5HV2SF.
• Tool high-speed cutting made of steel R6M5, R18 – for the production of thread-cutting tools.
