Reinforcing bars are either hot-rolled or cold-drawn and is a steel bar with a different type of profile. It can be smooth, sickle-shaped or grooved (with notches repeating at regular intervals). It is used to strengthen concrete structures and monolithic concrete.

The following types of reinforcement are distinguished:

• working reinforcement resists the tensile action of structures, which occurs under the influence of their weight and loads from outside;
• The name of the distribution valve speaks for itself. Its purpose is to evenly distribute the load between the reinforcement bars. It binds them, preventing shifts during concreting. The bond is carried out by welding or twisting. The result is a reinforcing cage;
• transverse reinforcement (another name is clamps) is used to ensure stable fixation of the working reinforcement. It takes on the action of transverse forces, preventing cracking of structures such as columns, beams, arches;
• mounting reinforcement is used to combine working and distributive reinforcement into meshes or frames, as well as to fix working reinforcement and stirrups during concreting.

For the manufacture of reinforcement, various grades of steel are used, which determines its class and scope:

• A1 and A2 are mounting hardware. It can be used at low temperatures, for welding mesh structures, in the production of installation work. Its use in load-bearing structures is prohibited;
• A3 is quite often used in industrial and civil engineering in the manufacture of reinforced concrete structures;
• A4 the reinforcement is so strong that it is used in reinforcing the foundations of buildings;
• A5 and A6 due to their high strength characteristics and the same price, they are used in the implementation of large-scale projects in the construction of structures with long spans and objects for heavy equipment.
